I would consider it as a recognition that for some of us, our sexuality ebbs and flows and changes throughout our lifetime, expresses itself differently in different places and times, and that simple labels - even supposedly-all-inclusive ones like “queer” or “pansexual” aren’t enough to signify the fact that for us, these things change.
